What David is listening to this month – “Keep On” by Rootwords.
David explains; Rootwords is a solo singer who originally hails from New York where he was born to Zambian parents. He came to Switzerland when his parents moved to Versoix (near Geneva) to work here. He mixes music influences from hip-hop with his Christian education. I like his music and his hip-hop sounds aren’t aggressive, they are respectful of fellow human beings”.
What Catherine is currently listening to – the “Choo Choo” song (the SBB song) by Brandy Butler. Catherine explains; “Coincidentally, just like David, I have also chosen an artist that was born in the U.S.A. but who now resides in Switzerland (she lives in Zurich).
This is a fun song, who knew you could rhyme SBB (the German acronym for the Swiss train network) with the word “today”! This song is mainly in English interspersed with a bit of German. Love the video that accompanies this song with the 50’s look and the backing singers. This song has been out for a while but it’s new to me! Brandy has a lovely, strong soul voice.
